Sharon Cuneta stars in these rags to riches story which established her as the country's box-office queen. It tells of how a young girl rejected by her father used her singing talent to rise out of the life of poverty. She was born to and to seek revenge on her weak willed father and his evil family. In the process she discovers that there is indeed life beyond the slums and that she is in truth a loving person. Because of this she learns to forgive all those who wronged her and her mother.
